God Called is a “cut to the chase” read. No holds barred, Kirk is not shy; he lays out the challenge of what is involved in the call to be a true disciple of Jesus. He helps you count the cost and gives a step by step method for Paul Pew-Warmer to leave the old life behind and live the life of the “new creation”. He shares of his own failures at various points to illustrate the consequences of not consulting God at particular points in his life and business. You come away feeling, “Ya, this guy knows what he’s talking about. Learned it the hard way.”

A reader can quickly determine if this book is for them by reading the “Look Inside” on Amazon. If you don’t fit the description of who should read…then please do not buy it! But if you do, this book could be the boost in your faith walk with God that you have been searching for.
It is a relatively quick read if you are reading straight through. But I would recommend stopping and meditating and talking with God on various points that seem to be highlighted for you. This is a book to be digested.

I will definitely be recommending God Called to Christians who express a desire for “the more!”

Rave 5 Star Reviews for New Book on Christian Discipline and Discipleship

“Convicting but compassionate,” “encouraging,” “deep” are just a few of the early reviews for God Called – He Needs Your Decision! Author Randy Kirk provides a pathway, and many of the stepping stones needed, to be surrendered to Jesus.

PRLog (Press Release) – May 13, 2014 – Twenty years ago Randy Kirk was praying over a minor spat between he and his wife. Kirk says, “The chill in the room wasn’t going to be cured by changing the thermostat. I decided to pray for God’s direction. At that point God had another idea and it was the start of something bigger than I could have done on my own power.”

Kirk would go on to write a little book that would fail miserably as a book, but would give him an audience of millions for God’s intended message: Inappropriate sex kills!

20 years later and after a series of significant setbacks in his personal life, Kirk has been led to write his second book for the Christian market. The book, God Called – He Needs Your Decision! was partially inspired by the earlier experience. “In the weeks leading up to that evening, I had been specifically praying to God, telling Him that I was willing to do whatever He had in mind for me. It was only after surrendering in that way that I was called in such a miraculous way. In that prayer time I was in a conversation with the Holy Spirit who laid out the entire book, right down to when it was to be published.”

The entire story unfolds in the pages of God Called; the good, the bad, and even the failures. But in the end, God’s will was done in a very surprising way.

Kirk is an entrepreneur and has written several other books related to starting and running small businesses.  However, he sees this book as his seminal effort. “I have several other books in various stages of preperation, and if God shows me that one of those or one I haven’t yet thought about will be more important than this one, I’m available and excited to get the assignment. For now, I just don’t think there is anything more important than to influence others to become true disciples of Jesus Christ and to go and make disciples.”

The book has debuted to fantastic reviews which can be seen on Amazon by going to http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JYNV300

Fundamental truths

I enjoyed the book, it verifies so much of what we come to know as foundations of our walk of faith. Our relationship and walk with God is brought down to simple steps which are our choosing. Our choice is not a one time choice but a journey of choices in which includes many things. Mr. Kirk includes our struggle with being human and the need to mature at a pace that includes choice and God’s help. Simplicity at its best.

Finally a book filled with insight

Finally a book filled with insight and scriptures that I can relate to! Kirk does a masterful job weaving life experiences and common sense into an easy to follow guide that smacks the reader in the face with God’s Word just when needed. It is more than just a milk toast read that makes you feel good. It challenges you to walk closer with God. It reminds me of some of C.S. Lewis’s books, the ones that make you think deeper and don’t just skim the surface.

Be forewarned. Don’t buy God Called unless you are prepared to pull off the scabs of worldly living to let God heal the sores your average, selfish life has left behind.

A Must-Read For Those Who Desire A Deeper Walk

A Must-Read For Those Who Desire A Deeper Walk, May 5, 2014

If you are hungry for something more than a mere religious involvement with Christ, this book is for you. Kirk has done an excellent job of identifying those areas of the Christian walk where we slip into mediocrity and offers practical and Biblically-based solutions for transforming our walk into something special. Sadly, many Believers today have a comfortable and passive agreement with the Lord: I’ll give you an hour of my time on Sunday–You take care of the rest. Unfortunately, the concept of becoming “salt” in the Earth has, for a large majority of Christians, lost its appeal–it takes too much work and often results in conflict with those around them, even other Christians. An intimate relationship with Holy Spirit is essential if we are going to effect change in our own lives, not to mention the lives of those around us. A wise mentor once said, “Most Christians seek the “hand” of God, few truly seek His face. If you cry out to God, as Moses did, “Show me your face!,” and truly desire to move beyond a lukewarm relationship with the Lord, this book is a good starting place.

I read a book. Not just any book. I consumed “God Called – He Needs Your Decision.”

I had the honor and privilege of being able to read “God Called” before its release date.  To say the least, it was inspiring !  I hear so many people talk about being able to hear God.  I know that I have what I call a “heartswell” when I feel there is something He wants me to do.  “God Called” put it all into perspective for me and enabled me to look at my own life and see areas where I am lacking in answering His call.  I’ve read a lot of  inspirational books and often feel by the end of the chapter, that I’m not really sure I understood the message.  I go back and read it again and still sometimes feel that I’m missing something.  Randy’s verbiage is so clear, that when you read “God Called,” you will not only get the message, you will feel inspired and excited.  I read it the first time, all the way through, without stopping.  It’s almost like a really good mystery, where you just can’t put it down.  The second time I read it, I had a pad of paper, a pen, my Bible and a highlighter.  Now I am going step by step through the book.  Iam reading more and understanding more of God’s word than I ever have before.  My heart is completely open to God’s voice.

I highly recommend everyone to read “God Called.”  If you’re lost, you will be found.  If you are a new Christian, you will answer that call, if you are grounded in your faith, you will be renewed.

I’m tired of feeling guilty about living an average Christian life! Guess I shouldn’t have bought God Called…but glad I did.

God Called was written specifically for mature Christians who feel they have not really heard the Lord speak to them. These Christians truly want to hear the voice of God calling to them with an offer to serve in a capacity that is outside of their expectations.
Review these questions, and one of which might be holding you back from hearing God’s plan for your life:
  • Jesus says disciples need to carry their cross and follow Him.  Can you do that?
  • Jesus said that disciples must hate mother and father (compared to Him)  Is that you?
  • Jesus said that disciples must obey what he has commanded.  Do you?
  • Jesus said that disciples must give up everything.  Are you prepared to do so?
  • Dallas Willard says “very few Christians want to hear what God has to say.  Do you?
Here’s a sample of the impactful words from God Called that have encouraged readers to take their Christianity to the next level:
Our Christian walk is always about how much we trust and believe, and whether we trust God enough to put aside our fear. Each stage of our maturing in Christ depends on our ability to repent of our unbelief, or pride, and our idols, and move to the next stage. This is true from our first profession of faith. It is true when we start each new discipline. It is true when we become aware of the depths of our sin and mindful of our need to be continually repenting. It is true when we become willing to be completely dependent on and open with God—intimate with Him. Then we must repent of our unbelief again if we are to fully surrender to a calling.
Don’t put off your decision to move closer to God and hear His voice. Get your copy of God Called – He Needs Your Decision! today and get started on a journey that will lead to a fully surrendered life.

You’ve made the decision to trust God, follow Jesus, and be indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

But those are only the first decisions that God allows his followers to make.  The Christian experience is a process of making one decision after another.  We make choices about:
  • loving God and others
  • participating in Christian disciplines
  • seeking God’s direction in our daily lives
  • being on fire or lukewarm
  • desiring to hear God’s specific calling on our life
  • opening our heart to actually hear from God
  • surrendering
Where are you in the decision process? Do you need a jumpstart? Here’s what others said:
“I started attending church again after reading God Called  JS
“I read the first few chapters of God Called but couldn’t go on.  Too convicting” TB
“After reading half of God Called, I started making big changes.” CC
Even as a Pastor sometimes we can lose focus on what it really is to be a

Randy Kirk is a layman who makes his living as a marketing consultant.  He has written this book in hopes of motivating serious Christians to be open to hearing God’s call “Whom shall I send. And who will go for us.” Then respond, as Isaiah did, “Here am I.  Send me.”

Wonderful, deep book

Wonderful, deep book, April 28, 2014

Are you hungering for a closer walk with God? Do you realize that you need something more than what you have in your spiritual life? Then God Called by Randy Kirk is the book for you to read.

From the first chapter this book caught my attention. Filled with nuggets of wisdom and the instructions and encouragement to step out in faith for a fuller walk with God, this book carefully points out what it takes to go a little further in your daily life: to become a true disciple of Christ. Easy? Not at all. But for a very real sense of satisfaction in knowing you’re doing what you’re suppose to do at the right time in your life, becoming a disciple of Christ will give you a peace and fulfillment from a choice and decision that you must make. Excuses abound plentifully, no matter what age you are, to prevent one from praying the prayer of discipleship, and yet it all depends on your desire and willingness: are you willing to become humble and forsake all to follow Christ?

Kirk’s scriptures drive home his points and his knowledge in the topic is outstanding. His examples and quotes and expounding pinpoints the problems individuals have, the cost many will have, and the solutions to a life of happiness.

I heartily recommend this book for all serious Christians!

I sincerely encouragement all Christians to read and act on Kirk’s book. Well, done, Mr. Kirk. You’ve given readers a powerful book.

I received an early copy to read for an honest review.
