PRLog (Press Release) – May 13, 2014 – Twenty years ago Randy Kirk was praying over a minor spat between he and his wife. Kirk says, “The chill in the room wasn’t going to be cured by changing the thermostat. I decided to pray for God’s direction. At that point God had another idea and it was the start of something bigger than I could have done on my own power.”
Kirk would go on to write a little book that would fail miserably as a book, but would give him an audience of millions for God’s intended message: Inappropriate sex kills!
20 years later and after a series of significant setbacks in his personal life, Kirk has been led to write his second book for the Christian market. The book, God Called – He Needs Your Decision! was partially inspired by the earlier experience. “In the weeks leading up to that evening, I had been specifically praying to God, telling Him that I was willing to do whatever He had in mind for me. It was only after surrendering in that way that I was called in such a miraculous way. In that prayer time I was in a conversation with the Holy Spirit who laid out the entire book, right down to when it was to be published.”
The entire story unfolds in the pages of God Called; the good, the bad, and even the failures. But in the end, God’s will was done in a very surprising way.
Kirk is an entrepreneur and has written several other books related to starting and running small businesses. However, he sees this book as his seminal effort. “I have several other books in various stages of preperation, and if God shows me that one of those or one I haven’t yet thought about will be more important than this one, I’m available and excited to get the assignment. For now, I just don’t think there is anything more important than to influence others to become true disciples of Jesus Christ and to go and make disciples.”
The book has debuted to fantastic reviews which can be seen on Amazon by going to http://www.amazon.com/
Kirk has several blogs and many other writings. You can learn more at http://ideaplace.blogspot.com/

Finally a book filled with insight and scriptures that I can relate to! Kirk does a masterful job weaving life experiences and common sense into an easy to follow guide that smacks the reader in the face with God’s Word just when needed. It is more than just a milk toast read that makes you feel good. It challenges you to walk closer with God. It reminds me of some of C.S. Lewis’s books, the ones that make you think deeper and don’t just skim the surface.
Be forewarned. Don’t buy God Called unless you are prepared to pull off the scabs of worldly living to let God heal the sores your average, selfish life has left behind.
I had the honor and privilege of being able to read “God Called” before its release date. To say the least, it was inspiring ! I hear so many people talk about being able to hear God. I know that I have what I call a “heartswell” when I feel there is something He wants me to do. “God Called” put it all into perspective for me and enabled me to look at my own life and see areas where I am lacking in answering His call. I’ve read a lot of inspirational books and often feel by the end of the chapter, that I’m not really sure I understood the message. I go back and read it again and still sometimes feel that I’m missing something. Randy’s verbiage is so clear, that when you read “God Called,” you will not only get the message, you will feel inspired and excited. I read it the first time, all the way through, without stopping. It’s almost like a really good mystery, where you just can’t put it down. The second time I read it, I had a pad of paper, a pen, my Bible and a highlighter. Now I am going step by step through the book. Iam reading more and understanding more of God’s word than I ever have before. My heart is completely open to God’s voice.
- Jesus says disciples need to carry their cross and follow Him. Can you do that?
- Jesus said that disciples must hate mother and father (compared to Him) Is that you?
- Jesus said that disciples must obey what he has commanded. Do you?
- Jesus said that disciples must give up everything. Are you prepared to do so?
- Dallas Willard says “very few Christians want to hear what God has to say. Do you?
- loving God and others
- participating in Christian disciplines
- seeking God’s direction in our daily lives
- being on fire or lukewarm
- desiring to hear God’s specific calling on our life
- opening our heart to actually hear from God
From the first chapter this book caught my attention. Filled with nuggets of wisdom and the instructions and encouragement to step out in faith for a fuller walk with God, this book carefully points out what it takes to go a little further in your daily life: to become a true disciple of Christ. Easy? Not at all. But for a very real sense of satisfaction in knowing you’re doing what you’re suppose to do at the right time in your life, becoming a disciple of Christ will give you a peace and fulfillment from a choice and decision that you must make. Excuses abound plentifully, no matter what age you are, to prevent one from praying the prayer of discipleship, and yet it all depends on your desire and willingness: are you willing to become humble and forsake all to follow Christ?
Kirk’s scriptures drive home his points and his knowledge in the topic is outstanding. His examples and quotes and expounding pinpoints the problems individuals have, the cost many will have, and the solutions to a life of happiness.
I heartily recommend this book for all serious Christians!
I sincerely encouragement all Christians to read and act on Kirk’s book. Well, done, Mr. Kirk. You’ve given readers a powerful book.
I received an early copy to read for an honest review.
